A pylon sign's whole job is to be seen from a distance. It's a freestanding tower structure, usually positioned at a site entrance or along a main road, built to catch attention before someone's even close enough to read your shopfront.
How it's lit and specified depends on how far away it needs to be seen and what's around it at night, so we size and specify accordingly rather than defaulting to one approach.
